Just the mention of the word awakening touches my memory. I was awakened to God in a real way. Before this pilgrimage, I was going to church, in the world, going up and down, with emotions, feelings, and life.

My awakening happened because I was searching for answers, my marriage was broken and my world was unstable if that makes sense as to what was happening in me and to me clearer.

On this journey, I wanted more of God. Now, looking back it reminded me of the experience the Prophet Isaiah had in the temple when he encountered God. He felt and saw the presence of God, but said, "Woe is me."

On my pilgrimage, God would awaken me at high. I would talk with Him, open my Bible to certain passages and I would sing songs to Him.

I also started placing a pen and paper by my bed. I would write down what God said and what I understood from our encounters.

Looking back, God was calling me out of the dark pit I was in. God was changing me from the inside out.

My awakening was sudden some days and gradual at other times.

In conclusion, I was awakened by how powerful God is and how limited I am. This pilgrimage continued for over forty years. Some days it is deeper than others. I am still being weakened physically (to commune with God) and spiritually(to be taught by God anew).
